Three archival documents submitted by the National Archives Administration of China have been approved for inclusion in the Memory of the World Committee for Asia and the Pacific (MOWCAP) Regional Register by the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) on Wednesday.
The Memory of the World Program is an extension of the world heritage protection, with a focus on documentary records.
The three archival documents include Archives of Chengdu Traditional Teahouses, Huizhou Genealogy Archives, and Printing Blocks Housed at the Derge Printing House.
Archives of Chengdu Traditional Teahouses are currently preserved in the Chengdu Municipal Archives in southwest China's Sichuan Province. These archival documents possess significant regional cultural characteristics and completely preserve the samples of tea house culture in Chengdu.
Archives of Chengdu Traditional Teahouses contain a collection of 6,345 items, including business licenses, statistical table, business documents, and printed materials related to tea houses in Chengdu from 1903 to 1949.
These archives are significant original documents for studying fine traditional Chinese culture, particularly Chinese tea culture, and hold important academic value.
Nowadays, the tea house has become a must-go destination for visitors to experience Chengdu-style life.
The Asia-Pacific Memory of the World Program currently has 17 achievements from China.
