QINGDAO -- The University of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences was set up in Qingdao, east China's Shandong Province, on June 22, with a target enrollment of 300 students in five majors this year.
As China's first higher learning institution named after "rehabilitation," the university will focus on basic and cutting-edge scientific research.
It encompasses five colleges of rehabilitation science and engineering, life science and health, social development, clinical medicine, and public teaching, along with three affiliated hospitals.
"We have set up the first batch of five undergraduate specialties, namely, rehabilitation physical therapy, rehabilitation occupational therapy, clinical medicine, biomedical engineering, and bioinformatics. The university promotes an interdisciplinary and integrated cultivation of talents, nurturing highly skilled and innovative professionals capable of leading the advancement of the rehabilitation undertaking," said Wang Lixiang, head of the university's academic affairs office.
The university is sponsored by the Shandong Provincial Government with the joint support from the Ministry of Education, China Disabled Persons' Federation, and National Health Commission.
