DALI -- Dali, a city in southwest China's Yunnan Province, has emerged as a premier destination for long-term travelers, attracting over 300,000 visitors last year.
Its unique blend of natural beauty and cultural richness makes it a highly sought-after spot for those seeking a change of pace.
Whether it's wandering through picturesque streets, engaging with local artisans, or simply soaking in the stunning views, Dali offers a rich tapestry of experiences that beckon travelers to embrace the beauty of the moment.
Early mornings in Dali are often filled with travelers from across China enjoying coffee by Erhai Lake, basking in the sunrise.
"I've traveled all over Yunnan, but Dali truly captivates me with its blue skies, white clouds, the scenery of Erhai Lake and Cangshan Mountain, and its inclusive culture. The kindness of the people and the openness of the local culture are key reasons why I chose to settle here after retirement," said Liu Weidong, a long-term visitor to Dali.
The influx of travelers has spurred investment in areas like Wenbi Village, where new businesses, such as boutique hotels, restaurants, and photography studios, are flourishing.
This year, the Dali Travel Alliance was established in Wenbi Village, aiming to create an even more welcoming environment for travelers.
"Living in Yunnan brings a true sense of home. The Travel Residency Alliance helps people settle in more deeply, attracts more visitors, and offers travelers from across the country a richer and more meaningful experience," said Ren Hua, another long-term visitor to Dali.
Dali's pleasant climate, rich ethnic culture, and deep historical roots have also made it a haven for creative individuals. Over 30,000 artists have chosen Dali as their "second home."
"Dali is a place where talented people come together. As filmmakers, we're eager to support the government's cultural and tourism promotion efforts and to contribute to what we consider our second hometown," said Hu Shufen, a film director.
