Holidaymakers in east China's Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces have been attracted by innovative art performances, drones and light shows while experiencing local delicacies during the May Day break.
During the five-day holiday, popular tourist destinations in Jiangsu's Changzhou City offered new artistic performances to give tourists fresh ways to experience the region's heritage.
Among the popular shows is a live-action performance based on the legendary Chinese folk heroin Hua Mulan, a warrior maiden who disguised herself as a man to take her father's place in the army, amusing the old and young audience.
The nighttime highlight -- themed drone and fireworks show, accompanied by water-based light effects -- added to the festive atmosphere.
The number of visitors during this year's five-day holiday is expected to rise by 10 percent to 15 percent compared to last year, according to local tourism officials.
The 1,300-year-old Youbu Ancient Town in Zhejiang's Lanxi City has long been popular for its vibrant morning tea culture. During this holiday season, droves of visitors flocked to the streets to experience the time-honored tradition, with over 300 types of snacks and delicacies to choose from.
During the holiday, the town's daily visitor count surged to nearly 65,000.
