People of several Chinese ethnic minority groups began to celebrate the traditional Water-Sprinkling Festival on April 13 in southwest China's Yunnan Province.
The Water-Sprinkling Festival, regarded as one of the most important traditional festivals for the Dai, Achang, Bulang, Va, and De'ang ethnic groups, is a national intangible cultural heritage of China.
The festival often lasts for three to four days and falls in the middle of every April. Countries located in Southeast Asia also celebrate the festival every year.
During the days-long celebration, people of ethnic minority groups in China perform various kinds folk dances, and hold temple fairs and dragon boat races. They sprinkle water on each other to give best wishes for a lucky, happy and healthy life.
