Foreign tourists flocking to Xi'an City, northwest China's Shaanxi Province, this summer are putting Chinese technology products on their must-see lists alongside the ancient city's famed terracotta warriors and Tang-dynasty (618-907) heritage, as inbound tourism to the city gains momentum.
Visitors are no longer content with simply exploring the ancient capital's history and culture. Many are trying out and buying Chinese high-tech products to experience the country’s smart manufacturing firsthand.
"I feel like China has a really good technology. And I think that it could be a really good opportunity to spread [it] around the world," said Maria, a Spanish tourist.
"I think Chinese technology is cool. Chinese technology is very famous around the world. So, we've seen a lot of it in social media," said Izaro, another Spanish tourist.
Industry experts say that this summer's boom in inbound tourism stems from a multidimensional synergy of natural scenery, cultural appeal, consumer experiences, and services. It also reflects the profound transformation of China's cultural and tourism industry and the renewed vitality of China's opening-up.
