XIAN -- An old film studio in Xi'an, capital of northwest China's Shaanxi Province, has been attracting throngs of tourists to take photos and learn about the history of China's film industry.
Established in August 1958, Xi'an Film Studio is one of the six major film studios in China.
It has produced many representative films such as "Farewell My Concubine", "Old Well", "Red Sorghum", "Tuya's Marriage", "Beautiful Feet", "My 1919", and "A Chinese Odyssey" series.
This summer, the studio park became a popular tourist destination attracting young people in particular, with a giant panda art installation set on the studio's office building.
A colorful array of activities is also held here including music performance, outdoor film screening, creative bazaar, panda-themed flash mob, food bazaar and art exhibition.
The studio underwent a large-scale refurbishment in 2016. To make it closer to local people's lives, enclosure was knocked down while the filming studios and scenic workshops, which evoke memories of the old studio, were preserved.
In 2021, the Xi'an Film Group developed a study tour program. As of April this year, it had received about 1,000 batches of study-travel groups including nearly 100,000 students.
Since the summer vacation started, the studio has been seeing a daily arrival of more than 300 students.
