China’s first Fu culture-featured block opens at Heart of Minjiang River
【Fuzhou Evening News】The first Fujian Fu (Blessing) Culture Carnival took place on the Heart of Minjiang River Youth Square from January 6 to January 8. Cultural and creative businesses, inheritors of intangible cultural heritage and artists from across Fujian province joined hands to offer a cultural feast to citizens and tourists along Minjiang River.
There were different functional zones, including theatrical performance, flash mob on Fu culture, hall of lantern riddles, open air cinema, delicious food market, fair of creative intangible cultural heritage, wish making and internet-famous sites. Citizens and tourists were able to appreciate cultures and try to enjoy the Fujian lifestyle together.
On the main stage, top theatres in Fujian put on many classical operas. The Fu culture-themed recitation with music entitled Fu performed by Fujian Song and Dance Theatre, the rhyme on Fu played by Qingci Band in the form of new folk music and the Han Chinese costume show together presented the distinctive Chinese fashion trend.
Fu culture-themed crosstalks, talk shows, song and dance performances were staged. In addition, hip-pop performed by local musicians in Fujian province, playing folk songs and trendy street dance were put on. The collision of popular tends and traditional culture is exclusive to the “Fu STYLE” of Fujian province.
With the theme of “Fudi Fuxin, Shiqi Weilai” (Invigorate the Blessed Place, Embrace the Future), China’s first Fu culture-featured block opened to the public on January 6. Located at the central axis of Fuzhou’s history and culture, the block echoes the Heart of Minjiang River core economic belt and is adjacent to the Shangxiahang and Cangxia historic culture blocks. Covering a total area of 124 Mu, the block boasts three themed squares, namely “Wanfu”, “Wufu” and “Jufu” and consists of a total of 34 old-age houses. (Zhao Zhengyan)
