China's Hengqin Port handled 720,000 passenger entries and exits in seven days of the Spring Festival holiday, seeing a growth of 27.7 percent year on year.
As a vital gateway connecting the Chinese mainland with Macao and the broader Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the port also received more than 70,000 vehicles from February 15 to 21, a year-on-year growth of 45.8 percent.
Passenger traffic remained high at the port during the nine-day holiday running till February 24. The highest single-day passenger volume was recorded on the third day of the holiday, at 127,000.
It is predicted that the port will see a peak in return passenger traffic on Sunday and Monday, the last two days of the holiday.
