As temperatures plummet across China, local governments are leveraging the snow-covered fields and landscapes to attract tourists, transforming winter chill into a booming economy.
In Yinchuan, capital city of northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, the 2024 World Snow Day and International Children's Skiing Festival has kicked off, with over 300 youngsters participating in various ice and snow activities, including skiing.
"This is my first visit to Yinchuan, and also the first time that Yinchuan has hosted the World Snow Day and International Children's Skiing Festival. I hope that more people will know about snow and ice and join in winter sports," said former short track speed skating athlete Li Jiajun, who is also a Chinese ice and snow sports promotion ambassador.
In Sichuan province's, temperatures have dipped below zero, causing some traffic disruptions. However, locals find joy in the winter scenery.
Jiuhuang mountain, with its sudden snowfall, has become a magnet for tourists seeking to revel in the snow, enjoy local cuisines, and engage in diverse winter sports.
