The New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor recorded a significant surge in intermodal rail-sea freight volume during the first quarter of this year, according to the China Railway Nanning Group.
From January to March, 345,200 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) were transported via the corridor's rail-sea intermodal service -- a year-on-year increase of 68.2 percent. The growth rate also accelerated by 9.8 percentage points compared to the first two months of the year, reflecting strengthened momentum in regional trade and improved logistics efficiency.
Notably, the cumulative freight volume surpassed 300,000 TEUs by March 21, achieving this milestone 51 days earlier than in 2024.
With its operational hub in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality, the trade corridor connects global ports through a combination of railways, sea routes, and highways, passing through southern provincial regions such as Guangxi and Yunnan.
The cargo service now covers 158 locations in 73 domestic cities and extends to 556 ports across 127 countries and regions.
