Over 2,400 foreign trade enterprises and more than 6,500 buyers have participated in the Premium Foreign Trade Goods China Tour program initiated by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, resulting in a total procurement intention of 16.76 billion yuan (about 2.35 billion U.S. dollars).
Over the past few months, the ministry has been stepping up efforts to promote the integration of domestic and foreign trade, assisting foreign trade enterprises in expanding domestic sales in response to U.S. tariff measures.
The ministry said that the first priority in this regard is to launch the Premium Foreign Trade Goods China Tour program, a platform specially built for foreign trade enterprises to expand domestic sales.
Under the instruction of the Commerce Ministry, a series of events have been held in 10 major regions, including Shanghai, Sichuan and Jiangsu, as of Friday.
The ministry has also guided e-commerce platforms, including JD.com, Freshippo, Pinduoduo and Kuaishou, and large retail enterprises, including Yonghui Supermarket, China Resources Vanguard and Wushang Group, to actively help foreign trade companies access domestic sales channels.
A total of 15 major e-commerce platforms have connected with over 26,000 foreign trade enterprises, assisting more than 2,600 of them to set up online shops, while nine e-commerce platforms have set up designated blocks for premium foreign trade goods, and so far, the sales volume of such goods has exceeded 600 million yuan.
Several retail enterprises have set up special sections and counters for premium foreign trade goods in their shops and have given priority to such products, significantly reducing the time required for putting them on shelves.
