Curated retail continues to gain popularity among young people and help boost consumption for the upcoming shopping season during the summer.
It has been a trendy for shopping areas in Beijing to tear the roof off and offer open space for people to feel relax and do their shopping – and that's the spirit of curated retail, a new form of business that young people are fond of.
In order to attract more young people, those areas also provide space such as skateboard and basketball parks where sports enthusiasts can compete their skills.
Curated retail also gives a facelift to old business areas and transform them into gathering places for street wear brands and stores that beloved by young people for providing new lifestyles such as camping and cafe.
Different from the layout of traditional shopping malls, there is no obvious boundary between shops, rest areas and public areas, offering consumers a sense of unrestrainedness.
"I think the display styles of stores are open, breaking the traditional display methods. The public areas are also utilized to display some camping products and there are also some cafe stores. It's more intuitive and bolder," said a consumer.
