10th Silk Road International Film Festival held in Fuzhou


[Fuzhou Evening News] The Silk Road, which leads to everywhere in the world, has greatly shaped Fuzhou. The 10th Silk Road International Film Festival was held in Fuzhou from September 23 to 27. In the period, nearly 500 candidate films from 84 countries and regions were reviewed for presenting top 10 prizes of the Golden Silk Road Awards. The 11th Silk Road International Film Festival will be held in Xian, the starting point of the land Silk Road in another golden decade.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative. Shaanxi and Fujian, known as the starting point of the land Silk Road and the maritime Silk Road, respectively, join hands over the decade to make the film festival become an important platform on the co-construction of the Belt and Road Initiative as well as a key event for cultural cooperation and exchanges along the Belt and Road.

In the festival, films were shown in a variety of venues. The five-day-long citywide film carnival was held in cinemas, open theatres and colleges and universities in the form of film culture fair, immersive performance and film projection; more than 10 sub-forums were launched on film art and industry, among other topics. It is notable that local films flexed their muscles in the festival. The film You Are My Hero, set and produced in Fuzhou, tells a moving story about a rescue team in a mountainous area; Ji Ke Dai Ming (Be on Call), directed by Fuzhou-born Wang Hong and the first documentary on non-governmental rescue organizations in Fuzhou, is intended to show humanitarianism in camera language.
