Fuzhou Today
Cultural history of Fuzhou, a blissful city, stretches back 1,000 years. Themed “setting sail for a new journey”, the opening ceremony for the Fuzhou Cultural Centre and New Fuzhou Children’s Library, two landmark cultural venues along the beautiful Jin’an Lake, was held on December 22 in Fuzhou, China.
With a total construction area of some 20,000 square meters, the New Fuzhou Children’s Library adopts administration that integrates collecting, lending and reading, and consists of a reading area for children, a borrowing and reading area for teenagers, a terraced space for reading, a reading room for the underprivileged and studies with a view of garden. The new Fuzhou Cultural Center, with a focus on building a virtual cultural center, is composed of Building A (a multiple-use building) and Building B (a performance center), where pubic cultural spaces are made available such as multi-functional performance halls, exhibition halls, conference halls, rehearsal rooms, smart classrooms, livestreaming rooms, tutoring rooms, handicraft workshops and areas for experiencing digital technology.(Zhao Ying , Guan Shu)
