Over a century, Guling in Fuzhou, China, a place nestling in the hills, has been providing a ton of nostalgia that cannot be torn apart. A continuous stream of foreigners and their descendants dwelled here more than one hundred years ago, thus building a bridge of connection and friendship over generations.

Themed overcoming cultural difference to carry forward friendship and trust, the 2024 Guling Forum was held on December 20 in Beijing, China. More than 150 guests from both China and the US, including members of the Friends of Guling, attended the forum to exchange profoundly opinions on making solid headway in promoting Sino-US friendly ties, and how the two countries can get along properly with each other.

As Guling serves a bond, friendly ties between China and the US can never cease. In June this year, more than 200 U.S. youths and 300 Chinese peers went together to Guling, where millennium-old cryptomerias to search for the past. They received postmarks in Guling Post Office, tried to find out what has happened amid old-age houses, and planted trees of friendship in Yixia Village. Through more than 50 activities, they experienced harmony in diversity, treasured the diversity of civilizations and engaged in cordial exchanges.  (Zhu Rong)
