Fuzhou Today
Six fishing vessels are expected to head back to Yuanhong Terminal, Fuzhou, China in December this year
On the afternoon of December 18, the fishing vessel “Fuyuanyu 8646” fully loaded with 584 tons of fish captured in the North Pacific Ocean docked in Yuanhong Terminal, Songxia Harbor Area, Fuzhou Port, China. This marks that China’s ocean fishing vessels working in the open sea areas of the North Pacific start to return to ports on a massive scale. “Fuyuanyu 8646” is the first fishing vessel returning from the North Pacific to berth at Yuanhong Terminal in Fuzhou, China in 2024.
It is reported that ocean fishing vessels usually operate in the North Pacific from April to December every year. Six fishing vessels, which are estimated to carry up to 3,600 tons of goods worth about RMB18 million, have the plan to head back to Yuanhong Terminal in December this year.
Landing terminals for ocean fishery harvests constitute an important infrastructure underpinning the “Two Countries, Twin Parks” programme between China and Indonesia. Since Yuanhong Terminal was piloted as a landing terminal for ocean fishery harvests in November 2021, a growing number of fishing vessels arrive ashore year by year. This year has witnessed unloading of 17 fishing vessels, with a handling volume of more than 10,000 tons in total. (Wang Guanghui)
