More than 100 rare pieces on display fully showcase the charm of field-yellow stone


On February 22, an exhibition of high-quality Shoushan Mountain field-yellow stone art works, themed “Field-yellow Stone Carving Craftsmanship Passed from Generation to Generation”, opened in Rongbaoxuan Art Museum. Over a hundred rare field-yellow stone art works are put on display, including rare works originally stored in palaces of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, masterpieces created by famous artists in the Republic of China period as well as select carving works in modern times. The feast of stone carving culture, which spans three centuries till now, highlights charming field-yellow stone art works and exquisite craftsmanship for intangible cultural heritage in the Spring Festival holiday.

A dozen of oversizzed field-yellow stone art works displayed in the event, whose weight ranges from 500g to 1kg, look stately and miraculous, and have a unique majestic charm. In addition to time-honored rare works, masterpieces by famous field-yellow stone carving artists in modern times are dazzling and exquisite. Masterpieces by Chen Da, Lin Wenju, Lin Shouchen and other celebrated artists are collectively put on display. They have applied different skills in accordance with material characteristics, and used knives dexterously to combine in a perfect manner natural texture of field-yellow stone with artistic conception. These artworks not only uphold the essence of traditional skills, but also highlight new expressions bestowed by the times, representing the most sophisticated field-yellow stone carving craftmanship in the modern times.

The collection of stone carving works, which are characterized by both natural beauty and superb craftsmanship, are so appealing that a continuous stream of citizens, art enthusiasts and senior collectors come to visit and exchange opinions.
