A series of carnival events themed “Spending a Cool and Refreshing Summer in Fuzhou Ancient Buildings” are inaugurated　

The chirping of cicadas marks the beginning of the midsummer, and refreshing breezes blow through ancient lanes and alleys in Fuzhou, known as a summer resort. In the summer of 2026, Fuzhou Famous City Protection and Development Co., Ltd. has launched a series of carnival events themed “Spending a Cool and Refreshing Summer in Fuzhou Ancient Buildings”, which are to be held in such historical and cultural blocks as Fuzhou’s Three Lanes and Seven Alleys, Shang Xia Hang, Zhu Zi Fang and Liang Cuo, and cover a broad range of activities from immersive performances, themed parades, study trips, mini holiday packages to public benefits. The carnival is intended to relieve citizens and tourists from summer heat amid refreshing breezes blowing through ancient lanes and alleys, take advantage of a variety of commercial activities to revitalize ancient buildings, and invite tourists from home and abroad to visit Fuzhou and spend cool and refreshing summer days in ancient lanes, alleys and courtyards.

The carnival event has taken a block-specific approach to making arrangements. Fuzhou’s Three Lanes and Seven Alleys, and Zhu Zi Fang place emphasis on “enjoying cool and refreshing breezes in courtyards, lanes and alleys” to get to the root of culture that has spanned thousands of years as well as intangible cultural heritage. Shang Xia Hang Historic District in Fuzhou highlights “refreshing breezes and beautiful scenery”, and combines reminiscence, watching trendy games with taking a short holiday in ancient buildings. With a focus on “refreshing breezes and amusement”, the Liang Cuo block in Fuzhou is mainly characterized by doing handicrafts in rural courtyards, seeing jasmine tea scenting and relieving parents and children from summer heat. The four blocks complement each other, and differ in scenery. They provide three distinctive tourist routes for summer days, which are characterized by Fuzhou culture, summer evenings amid fireworks, and refreshing breezes in the countryside, respectively, and cater to varied travel needs of study trip enthusiasts, families that have children, lovers, bosom friends and young students so that summer tourist routes, which are friendly to all ages, are introduced to visit ancient buildings.

It is prime time to travel in summer. Therefore, a sincere invitation is hereby extended to tourists both from home and abroad to visit ancient buildings in Fuzhou and spend pleasant summer days with Fujian’s characteristics.
