Fuzhou goldfish are on a tour to “garner fans”

China’s goldfish enjoy global renown and Fuzhou is the core breeding area of goldfish in China. On August 20, the 2026 Fuzhou Goldfish China Tour, themed Auspicious Goldfish from Fuzhou, the City of Blessings, Shared by the World, was held in the west square of Beijing Zhongshan Park.

More than 160 goldfish in 12 breeds from Fuzhou, including good-natured and adorable Fuzhou Ranchu goldfish, Panda Goldfish whose tail fins are as elegant as yarn, and plump Crown Pearl goldfish, will be put on display in Beijing for 16 days.

In Beijings event, throngs of people can be seen in the area that is intended to show tangible results that Fuzhou has achieved in goldfish breeding. Citizens and tourists immerse themselves in watching goldfish swim leisurely, listening to stories on Fuzhou goldfish, playing the pitch-pot game and joining a knowledge contest on goldfish.

As early as July 24, 2026, the first leg of the 2026 Fuzhou Goldfish China Tour, themed Auspicious Goldfish from Fuzhou, the City of Blessings, Shared by the World, took place in the 9th Kunming ASEAN Pets Expo, capturing the attention of distributors in Yunnan Province and from ASEAN countries.

Goldfish displayed in the event epitomize Fuzhous approach to developing fishery in a brand-oriented and international fashion. Fuzhou has long been dubbed as the Capital of Goldfish in China, and Fuzhou goldfish, Beijing imperial goldfish, and Suzhou and Hangzhou goldfish constitute the top three breeds of goldfish in China. Since the beginning of 2018, the Fuzhou Goldfish China Tour has been held in 28 cities, including Shanghai, Chengdu, Shenyang, Hangzhou, Shenzhen, Wuhan, Changsha, Urumchi and Dingxi and also took place in such platforms as the Macau International Trade and Investment Fair. Fuzhou leads China in the size of goldfish industry. With the total industrial output exceeding RMB 1.2 bln, Fuzhou occupies 80% of Chinas high-end goldfish market. Furthermore, Fuzhou secures the first position across the country in terms of annual output, the number of breeding companies, the number of practitioners, exports of high-end goldfish, breeding techniques and brand influence, thereby playing a significant role in China and the global market.
