The finals of 2022 China (Qingdao) Overseas Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition recently took place in the Qingdao Sea View Garden Hotel. The competition has solicited 231 projects from worldwide overseas students, a record high. 95% of the projects have attended the competition in Qingdao for the first time. 45 projects have eventually qualified for the finals.

The competition has employed “online roadshows + offline review” and adopted such interaction forms as virtual roadshows and questioning. Ultimately, 8 projects, including the “PV energy storage system” project and the “R&D and industrialization of the intelligent quality inspection platform based on multi-modality data analysis” project, have been selected as outstanding projects, and 10 projects, including the “online international exchanges-cloud lectures by masters” project, have been awarded the title of “cultivation projects”.

The competition is aimed at gathering and integrating worldwide innovation and entrepreneurship resources, attracting high-level talent and teams to Qingdao to pursue innovations and start their own business, backing start-up businesses founded by overseas returnees for rapid development and helping Qingdao accelerate construction of an international innovation-oriented city. Furthermore, the competition has set up both the global division and the China division, and extensively sought cooperation with worldwide colleges and universities, China’s venture capital investment institutions and industrial parks.  (Liu Jiani)
