Qingdao takes solid steps to grow into a home port of deep-sea wind power 2025/4/12 source: 國際日報 Print

The Qingdao Green Energy Industrial Alliance was recently established. Qingdao is moving faster to build up strength in the green energy sector in an effort to grow into a home port of deep-sea wind power based in northern China and with a global reach.

The alliance with 200-strong members include Qingdao Branch of China Three Gorges Corporation, CNPC Offshore Engineering Company Ltd. (Qingdao) and Qingdao Hanhe Cable Co., Ltd. Among the members are not only central SOEs that have competence to invest in the new energy sector, a pillar of the great power, and huge project, but also Qingdao-based technology-based companies that excel in innovation in regard to key links of industrial chains. On the back of the participation of these leading enterprises, Powerchina’s offshore PV project, the first phase of  the 3,000MW offshore wind power project contracted by Qingdao Branch of China Three Gorges Corporation and China Huadian Corporation’s 2,000MW offshore wind power project are making headway at a faster pace in Qingdao.

Qingdao is currently working on the integration of local resources, including high voltage cables, wind power structural parts, electronic control components, special-purpose boats, and moving faster to introduce and gather manufacturers of such critical spare parts as wind power turbines and mater control systems, turbine blades and generators to accelerate the development of the wind power industry chain.
