The eastern coastal city of Qingdao, Shandong province, has set its economic and social development goals for 2023, according to the government work report released at the second session of the 17th Qingdao Municipal People's Congress, which ended on Jan 1.
Next year is the starting point for fully implementing the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and is also a starting point for Shandong to build itself into a green, low-carbon and high-quality development pilot province in China.
The government work report said that in 2023 Qingdao will continue to focus on its real economy development and on attracting investment, promoting urban renewal and construction, and improving the work style of officials. More efforts will be made to replace old growth drivers with new ones and advance the city's high-quality development.
In 2023, the local government will work harder to tap the potential of domestic demand, strengthen industrial strength, energize the economy, increase the driving force for transformation, and strengthen its ability to ensure people's wellbeing.
The city will devote greater energy to enhancing urban functions and core competitiveness and steadily improving the capacity and level of governance of modern socialist international metropolises.
According to the municipal government work report, Qingdao will continue to deepen supply-side structural reform to tap the potential of expanded domestic demand.
The city will speed up efforts to implement a package of stimulus measures such as boosting the sales of big-ticket items like automobiles and home appliances to further unleash consumption potential.
Qingdao will introduce a modern industrial system with international competitiveness, strengthen its foundation for the development of the real economy, and build itself into a pioneer city for modern industries.
