On January 2, the RCEP (Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership) officially became effective for Indonesia. As soon as it was after zero hour, Sun Junzhi, general manager of Qingdao Sanmu Aquatic Products Co., Ltd., obtained Shandong province’s first RCEP certificate of origin for goods to Indonesia in the RCEP Shandong Enterprises Service Centre in Shibei District, Qingdao. With the certificate of origin, the batch of frozen salmons that the company has exported to Indonesia is entitled to zero duty instead of paying 10% import duties.

“The batch of frozen salmons is valued at RMB1.053mln. With the RCEP certificate of origin issued by the Qingdao customs, the goods will be entitled to a deduction of over 100,000 RMB in clearance duties in Indonesia.” According to Sun Junzhi, it is definitely cheering news that the aquatic products processing industry with modest profitability can enjoy such an enormous concession of tariff.

ASEAN is Shandong province’s largest trading market and Indonesia is the largest export destination where goods from Shandong province can enjoy favorable treatment in ASEAN. According to certain data, in the first eleven months of 2022, imports from Shandong province to Indonesia amounted to as much as RMB39.01bln, increasing by 29.3% year on year.  (Yu Ruixin)
