The world’s first 150,000-metric-ton smart fish farming ship “Conson No. 1 2-1”, invested by Qingdao Conson Development Group, was delivered for operations in China State Shipbuilding Corporation Beihai Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. on April 17, marking that China’s deep-sea large-scale smart fish farming ships have entered the 2.0 era in terms of technological iterations and expansions.
The “Conson No. 1 2-1” is upgraded from the “Conson No. 1”, which was said to be the world’s first 100,000-metric-ton smart fish farming ship. Costing RMB610 mln, and with a length of 244.9 meters, a molded breadth of 45 meters, a scanting draft of 15 meters and a water body displacement of 150,000 tons, the ship boasts nearly 100,000 cubic meters of aquatic water, 15 standard farming cabins, four circular raceway ponds and 22 farming testing ponds. The ship will adopt the “cabin farming” model to cultivate famous and high-quality fish species such as large yellow croakers, trouts and yellowtail kingfish, with a designed annual output of about 3,600 tons of high-quality fish species.
The successful hand-over of “Conson No. 1 2-1” marks that China’s deep-sea farming ship industry has started to embrace the new stage of standardization. The use of the ship will provide a technical model for the large-scale expansion of fleets, thus helping expedite China’s drive to build a RMB100 bln-level deep-sea industry cluster. (Zhou Xiaofeng)
