The “Mediterranean Highway” ro/ro ship was recently loaded with 2,525 Chinese-made NEVs without any delay before departing from Qingdao Port Dagang Company, Shandong Port Group for countries in Central America. This is the maiden voyage of the new ro-ro shipping route opened by Qingdao Port, Shandong Port Group in collaboration with CMA-CGM, marking a new channel for Qingdao Port to ship NEVs across the world.

Since the beginning of 2025, exports of NEVs via Qingdao Dagang Port have been rocketing, with combined exports in the first quarter surging 160% year on year to a record-breaking high of 5,036 units. Qingdao Port is moving faster to build an international vehicle ro/ro transit center. Dagang Company is operating four ro/ro shipping routes that cover emerging markets, such as East Africa, North and Central America, and Russia, with an annual transporting capacity of more than 600,000 cubic meters.  (Zhou Jianliang/Zhou Xiaofeng)
