In the just-concluded May Day holiday when the 20th Huabiao Film Awards took place, Qingdao showcased its unique charm in the film industry and attracted a continuous stream of tourists from home and abroad with attractions that have appeared in films scenes having artistic appeal and visual impact.

Why do you get fond of Qingdao? Most admirers say that it is attributable to the city’s unique scenery characterized by “red tiles, green trees, blue sea and azure sky”. Strolling along Jinkou Yi Road, which is situated nearby the mountain and the sea in the old urban area, and winding but with spectacular views, constituted an important scene in the TV series Nan Lai Bei Wang (Always on the Move). The “tree standing alone” on Qinyu Road, a filming location for the TV series When I Fly Towards You, is no longer lonely as many tourists feel healed at the sight of the tree. The Eight Great Passes, where buildings of different styles can be found, witnessed the first encounter between the male and female protagonists in the TV series With You. A great many tourists took the same cableway, which appeared in the film A Little Red Flower, to enjoy the picturesque scenery of Taiping Mountain.

Designated by the United Nations Organization for Education, Science and Culture (UNESCO) to join its Creative Cities Network (UCCN) as a "City of Film”, Qingdao is a romantic city, fascinating and diversity-embracing. The white lighthouse on the Lovers’ Dam saw sweet love in the TV series Skate into Love. In the Qingdao Polar Ocean Park, close interactions between mankind and animals, which are staged in the film Legend of the Ocean, happen every day. When night falls, the Taidong Pedestrian Street, a shooting location for the film Yesterday Once More, has the most charming nighttime scenes and sees stories unfold.

Coastal landscape is the most natural scenery in Qingdao. Leading characters’ pursuit of their ideals and love stories in the TV series As Beautiful As You have been staged in the Mangrove Forest Resort World. The Tangdao Bay Wetland Park, which is packed with tourists, has seen stories of loving and growing up in the TV series To Ship Someone.

A TV series or a film is composed of many scenes while the holiday is an episode of our life. A sympathetic chord, no matter how momentary, can suffice to engender a lasting memory. Tourists can follow the scenes in TV series or films to travel around Qingdao at any time.  (Ma Xiaoting)
