With new projects beginning construction one by one, the old urban area is revitalized. Business districts in Qingdao present a picture of prosperity. According to statistics, the area of shopping malls in Qingdao saw an addition of more than 1 million square meters in 2022, and the per capita commerce area has paced up with the levels in developed countries.

From the perspective of the distribution of business districts, the Hong Kong Middle Road business district is still the benchmark among Qingdao’s business districts; the Laoshan business district, which is home to many business giants, is emerging as a new power; the Zhongshan Road business district featuring “cultural tourism+” highlights “fashion+ancient styles” by digging up culture of Liyuan buildings and time-honored brands; the Xinduxin business district, the Licun business district and the Chengyang business district, which boast youthful vigor, have constituted the backbone of commerce in Qingdao.

In-depth applications of digitization and new concepts have enabled the business districts in Qingdao to make their new voices heard. The “Rock City + Licun Night Market”, “Chengyang Jiajiayuan + Lvjiazhuang Night Market”, which are famous for open air fairs and flea markets, have become symbols of fashion in Qingdao; With the landscape renovation on Zhongshan Road and large-scale business upgrade on Taidong Pedestrian Street, old business districts in Qingdao look like a hundred flowers in bloom. According to incomplete statistics, Taidong Pedestrian Street in the first quarter received as many as 18.75 million visitors, and generated a turnover of more than RMB1.8 billion, increasing by 177% year on year.

It is said that Qingdao will launch more than 20 projects and see an addition of over 2 million square meters commercial areas in the coming three years.
