The 2026 Qingdao Venture Capital Conference took place in the coastal city of Qingdao, Shandong provinve, on July 8, once again turning the city into a rising hub for venture capital in northern China.
A key highlight of the summit was the release of the annual white paper on China's venture capital industry (2026). The report systematically addresses critical market questions through data-driven analysis, positioning the summit as a significant window for observing China's venture capital ecosystem.
During the summit, the Qingdao Fund Industry Development Alliance was officially unveiled. The alliance, which has already attracted over 100 institutional members, aims to cultivate long-term and patient capital by building a platform for government-enterprise collaboration and multi-party coordination.
The Qingdao municipal government also signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Shanghai Pudong Development Bank, under which the bank will provide 400 billion yuan ($58.84 billion) in intended financial support to Qingdao. The two sides will cooperate across a wide range of areas, including cross-border finance, technology finance, and credit financing.
The summit further witnessed the launch of a joint initiative involving five major State-owned banks' international investment banking arms to support Qingdao's innovation-driven growth.
In the latest Global Financial Centers Index, Qingdao rose to 33rd place, up two spots from the previous ranking, marking its 19th consecutive appearance in the global top 50. The summit is set to inject renewed momentum into Qingdao's ambition to become a premier destination for venture capital and private equity investment.
