As migratory gulls flock to Qingdao's shores, the coastal city is gearing up for its third seagull season, featuring more than 100 cultural and tourism activities from November 2026 to March 2027.
Centered on Shinan district, the five-month celebration will offer visitors opportunities to experience Qingdao's winter coastline through sightseeing cruises, cultural performances, interactive activities, and special tourism packages.
Seagull-themed cruises will take visitors out to sea, while themed trains, buses, and interactive installations bring the festivities to transport hubs and major attractions.
Weekend events will feature street performances, treasure hunts, handicraft workshops, and cultural activities. A specially commissioned play will tell the story of Qingdao's 32-year tradition of welcoming migratory gulls each winter.
Hotels, restaurants, and shopping centers will also participate by offering themed accommodation, dining packages, discounts, and visitor services, including luggage storage and multilingual assistance.
Near Zhanqiao Pier, the historic Shangjieli area will host additional activities, inviting visitors to explore Qingdao's historic streets, local businesses, and cultural attractions after watching the gulls along the waterfront.
The festival aims to boost Qingdao's winter tourism appeal while celebrating the enduring bond between the city and its seasonal visitors.
