Qingdao Port of Shandong Port Group and the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) have signed a work plan to advance cooperation on green and digital shipping between the two major maritime hubs.

The agreement marks a step forward in implementing the Singapore-China and Singapore-Shandong Green and Digital Shipping Corridor initiatives, focusing on cleaner marine fuels, digital connectivity, and maritime research.

Under the plan, the two sides will explore pilot projects for bunkering lower-emission marine fuels, including methanol, on direct shipping routes between Qingdao and Singapore. They will also assess demand for methanol bunkering and share expertise on fueling standards and procedures.

On digital connectivity, Qingdao Port's Yungangtong platform and Singapore's OCEANS-X platform will facilitate the exchange of vessel movement data, improving arrival visibility, berth scheduling, and port resource management.

The partnership will also bring together maritime research institutions from both countries to explore alternative fuels and digital shipping technologies.

The cooperation aims to support shipping decarbonization, improve port efficiency, and strengthen connectivity between the two international maritime hubs.
