The Shenzhen Municipal Transport Bureau recently unveiled a preliminary plan aiming to introduce nearly 16,000 new roadside parking spots in 2024, inviting public feedback and suggestions on the proposal.

Out of the proposed 15,904 parking spots, 84% will be allocated across Dapeng New Area, and Bao’an, Longgang, Longhua, Guangming, and Pingshan districts.

Bao’an District stands to benefit the most from the planned expansion, with a total of 4,353 spots spread across 56 road sections in seven subdistricts. Notably, Shajing Subdistrict will witness the addition of 1,485 parking places along 18 road sections.

In Longgang District, 3,083 parking spots are slated for incorporation along 44 road sections spanning nine subdistricts.

According to bureau officials, the majority of these new parking facilities will be positioned near residential, commercial, and industrial zones, as well as public areas adjacent to schools and parks.

Official data from the Shenzhen Road Transportation Center indicates that the city currently boasts 28,000 roadside parking spaces, with the highest concentration found in Futian (6,333), Bao’an (5,924), and Nanshan (5,327) districts.
