THE China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair (ICIF) is serving as a platform for Moldova to promote its star product, Moldovan wine, and to explore tourism and cultural exchange opportunities with China, according to Dumitru Braghis, the Moldovan ambassador to China.

Making its debut at the ICIF, Moldova’s presence, led by Braghis, is aimed at showcasing the country’s rich wine heritage and economic potential.

“This is a unique opportunity to promote Moldovan wine. We’re attending the fair to promote Moldova, to promote Moldovan products, to make more Chinese people know about Moldova, and to explain what our advantages are,” Braghis told Shenzhen Daily on Thursday.

Braghis mentioned Moldova’s strategic position and emphasized its free trade agreements with over 40 countries, which offer Chinese businesses a duty-free gateway to European and former Soviet Union markets.

According to the ambassador, the fair is also opening new avenues for promoting Moldova’s tourism potential and facilitating cultural and people-to-people exchanges.

He highlighted Moldova’s unique attractions, such as the world’s largest underground cellar, Mile?tii Mici, and the fact that Moldova is among the world’s largest wine exporters despite its small size.

“Chinese tourists are welcomed to visit Moldova to see this underground cellar, to taste wine, and to spend some time to understand the wine culture and many other interesting issues,” Braghis said.

Braghis also commended the fair for its diversity and the chance it provides for countries to learn from one another, cooperate, and find common ground in various sectors.

“I have seen a lot of countries participating in this fair, which is quite important for the fair, for these countries, and for the Chinese people, because we have the possibility to know each other better,” he said.

“I’m sure that Moldova will also be proud to be here participating in this exhibition next year,” Braghis said.
