LIAO SIXING is an employee of Shenzhen-based Insta360, a tech company that offers intelligent imaging products like panoramic cameras and action cameras.

The company’s production and after-sales services are handled by its Zhongshan office. As a sales employee, commuting between Shenzhen and Zhongshan is a part of his job.

As an employee who frequently commutes between the two cities, Liao is excitedly anticipating the opening of the Shenzhong (Shenzhen-Zhongshan) Link because it will reduce his travel time and costs.

“With my family in Shenzhen, apart from attending headquarters meetings, I also need to commute between Zhongshan and Shenzhen on weekends. The opening of the Shenzhong Link will reduce my commuting time by about 30 minutes,” Liao said.

Liao used to take the Humen Bridge, where the one-way toll was around 80 yuan (US$11). Now the cost is expected to decrease to around 64.6 yuan.

When Insta360 prepares to launch new products, employees have to travel between the two cities since the research team is based in Shenzhen and the labs and production lines are in Zhongshan. This situation will be greatly improved with the opening of the Shenzhong Link. The research team can quickly get feedback from the production base, so market response will be improved.

According to Li Zhaoqi, manager of Insta360’s Zhongshan office, Zhongshan serves as the global logistics center from where the company’s products are shipped to Europe, America, Southeast Asia, and other regions.

According to Li, cross-border e-commerce parcels that are packaged in the morning can be swiftly delivered to Shenzhen airport via the Shenzhong Link at noon and arrive in Shenzhen in time to catch international cargo flights in the evening. By the next day, the parcels will reach major cities in the United States, allowing American consumers to receive them within three days at the latest. This process normally takes between four and five days, so the company will save at least one day with the Shenzhong Link.
