AKZONOBEL, the international paint behemoth headquartered in the Netherlands, plans to further expand its investment in Shenzhen over the next decade.
Karen Marie, the chief integrated supply chain officer at AkzoNobel, affirmed the company’s commitment to future investments in Shenzhen during a meeting with Wang Shourui, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Shenzhen Municipal Committee, in Bao’an District on Thursday afternoon.
The investment primarily focuses on upgrading AkzoNobel’s factory in Yanluo Subdistrict, Bao’an District, in a bid to significantly enhance its production capacity.
In 1994, AkzoNobel established a wholly foreign-owned company — AkzoNobel Chang Cheng Coatings (Guangdong) Co. Ltd. — in Bao’an District.
During the meeting, Wang, also Party secretary of Bao’an District, warmly welcomed a delegation led by Marie and provided an overview of Shenzhen’s economic development from various perspectives.
Marie was impressed by Shenzhen’s rapid growth and praised the city’s initiatives to preserve its natural environment. She also expressed gratitude for the support that has been extended to AkzoNobel by the local government over the years.
AkzoNobel’s Bao’an factory primarily produces performance coatings, according to its official website.
AkzoNobel, also a Fortune 500 company, supplies coatings and inks for safeguarding and embellishing various products such as beverage and food cans, aerosol and general line cans, metal closures, and collapsible tubes.
Operating in more than 150 countries, the company’s prestigious portfolio of brands includes Dulux, International, Sikkens, and Interpon.
