The number of overseas buyers to the 134th session of the China Import and Export Fair, commonly known as the Canton Fair, topped 190,000 as of Thursday, up over 50 percent compared to the same period of the spring session, according to the event's organizers on Thursday.
The five-day third phase of the world's largest trade fair is running through Nov. 4, featuring exhibits from more than 11,000 companies. Meanwhile, around 985,000 items are on display through its online platform.
About 4,400 branded booths from 815 enterprises are providing visitors with a wide array of exhibits, ranging from children's, infant, and maternity products, fashion, home textiles, stationery and health and leisure products.
Xu Bing, a spokesman for the fair, said the biannual event offers a large platform where participants from across the globe can benefit from China's development and expand their businesses.
"The Canton Fair enables international exhibitors, visitors and businesspeople to reach out to more quality and affordable 'made-in-China' products and share China's huge market. It will create more opportunities for Chinese and foreign enterprises and help them buy and sell globally," Xu said.
The Canton Fair is held in the spring and autumn seasons each year since the spring of 1957 in Guangzhou City, capital of south China's Guangdong Province, the country's economic powerhouse.
