A dazzling array of festive celebrations including folk singing and dancing are underway in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region as local residents mark the annual Double Third Festival, a traditional festival observed by multiple ethnic groups across China.

The Double Third Festival, or "Sanyuesan" in Chinese, refers to the third day of the third month of China's lunar calendar, which fell on April 19 this year. Formerly known as the "Shangsi Festival" in ancient China, it is a traditional festival celebrated by the Han people and a number of ethnic minority groups.
It was inscribed as a national intangible cultural heritage in 2014. Every year, all residents in Guangxi can take two days of official public holiday to mark the occasion.
This year, with the festival falling close to weekend, local residents can have a four-day holiday starting from Friday to enjoy a variety of folk performances across the region.
In the city of Laibin, a large cast of performers took part in multiple celebratory events, performing solemn, time-honored dances to pray for favorable weather, national prosperity, and ethnic unity. Meanwhile, thousands of local residents and tourists struck drums and danced to the rhythm, creating a spectacular scene.
Celebrations were also in full swing in Yangshuo County, Guilin City, a world-renowned tourist destination. One of the most popular attractions for both residents and tourists was a grand parade full of folk characteristics, where energetic dragon and lion dances drew large crowds eager to take photos.
In Xingye County, Yulin City, the festivities offered local residents and tourists a true feast of folk culture, featuring a lineup of dragon dances, ethnic music performances, bamboo pole dances, and other folk dances.
As performers poured their energy into the shows, audiences danced joyfully along to the music. Villagers and tourists immersed themselves in a vibrant cultural celebration where tradition and modernity intertwined within centuries-old alleys.
