Preparations for 6th CIIE to be completed in Shanghai 2023/11/3 source: International Daily Print

All preparations for the sixth China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai will be completed on Thursday with the whole venue being spruced up for a green and clean expo.

Scheduled to take place from Nov 5 to 10, the expo is expected to attract guests from 154 countries, regions and international organizations, with over 3,400 exhibitors and 394,000 professional visitors registered to attend the event to be held at the National Exhibition and Convention Center.
Currently, the main structure of all exhibition booths were basically finished with the installation of some large exhibits already in place. The arrangement of all exhibits can be completed on Thursday. A total of 1,800 signs and posts for directions inside the venue were also set up to provide exhibitors and visitors with clearer guidance during the exhibition.
There will be nearly 6,000 volunteers who were trained for consultation, registration management, guest contact, reception, medical and health assistance services during the expo.
Meanwhile, for the first time in the expo's history, venue of the sixth CIIE will be powered by only green energies.
The organizer of the expo purchased 8 million kWh of green electricity generated through photovoltaic and wind from Anhui Province in east China ahead of the event.
Such large amount of electricity will not only be used for the expo, but also for the venue's operation in the whole month after the event is concluded, according to Chen Chunyi, director of Trading Department of Shanghai Power Trading Center.
"The use of these electricity not only covers the demand of the Expo being held from Nov 5 to 10, but also the venue's electricity consumption of the entire month in November. This 8 million kWh of green electricity can reduce the emission of 3,360 tons of carbon dioxide," said Chen.
In addition, the expo utilizes smart technologies to ensure its electricity supply. Nearly 4,000 sensors were installed to collect data related to temperature, voltage and electricity consumption in real time, which allows supporting staff to analyze them and turn off unnecessary equipment in a timely manner if electricity consumption exceeds the pre-assigned load value.
"When the electrical load exceeds 140 percent of the set number, we will check all load types to make sure the entire venue is running in an energy efficient state," said Li Wensi, senior manager of the Equipment Engineering Department of the National Exhibition and Convention Center.
This expo also advocates green travel. All buses used will be new energy vehicles, which is not only environmental-friendly, energy-saving but also reduce operating costs greatly.
