New Chinese style, a contemporary fashion style combined with traditional Chinese culture elements, is gaining popularity nationwide as public appreciation of traditional culture is on the rise.

The artful and stylish combination of traditional Chinese elements and modern design attract crowds of buyers.
"Since last year, the clothes of Chinese trendy brands have become more popular, and more than 10 pieces can be sold a day," said Zhang Lili, owner of a women's clothing store.
"It looks beautiful and the fabric is very comfortable. It looks decent on various occasions." said a customer called Pang Naihong.
Roaming on a spring outing, visitors dressed in new Chinese style clothing are seen everywhere at popular tourist attractions.
"This is a horse-face skirt, Chinese style. It's really meaningful," said a tourist surnamed Tang.
"There are many more (customers) coming to see the new Chinese-style clothes than before, up about 60 to 70 percent," said a staff member from a store.
Based on data from the China National Textile and Apparel Council, the market for new Chinese style clothing has reached 1 billion yuan (around 141 million U.S. dollars) in 2023. Over the past three years, the overall transaction volume for related products has seen a remarkable growth of over 100 percent. Moreover, starting from January this year, the online search volume for "new Chinese style" on e-commerce platforms has surged nearly sixfold compared to the previous month.
Some have said that the surging demand reflects Chinese people's growing appreciation of traditional culture.
"Cultural confidence is getting stronger. From the beginning of this spring to now, (sales) are expected to increase by about 15 percent compared to last year," said Jin Yanni, general manager of Baima Garment Market in Guangzhou, south China's Guangdong Province, one of the largest clothing wholesale and distribution centers in China.
The huge market for new Chinese style clothing has had a positive impact on the upstream supply chain.
"The market demand is too huge. There used to be two to three manufacturers (in Qiaotou township of Wenzhou) making this kind of beads, but now there may be seven to eight," said Gao Qian, chairman of Wenzhou Gaoerda Button Jewelry Co., Ltd in Wenzhou City of east China's Zhejiang Province.
