On February 28, Qingdao held a conference on high-level opening-up and high-quality business and investment attraction. A slew of implementation measures for opening-up and development in Qingdao have been rolled out in the conference. Establish “big platforms” for opening-up and development, build and leverage such high-level opening-up platforms as the SCO Demonstration Area and the Qingdao Area of China (Shandong) Pilot Free Trade Zone, proactively embrace and facilitate the new development paradigm and make better use of both international and domestic markets and resources; construct interconnection channels, bring into play the integration of sea, land, air and railway transportation, accelerate the construction of an international comprehensive transportation hub city, and work to bring about a new phase of all-around two-way opening up with links running eastward and westward over land and sea; build a “greater market” featuring internal connection and external connection, integrate better with the unified national market, vigorously tap into international emerging markets and speed up fostering new drivers of foreign trade; build “a big window” for international exchanges, run well significant events like the Qingdao Multinationals Summit, expand the scope of international friendship cities and promote opening up in a greater scope and depth; push ahead with institutional opening-up, work to align with high-standard international economic and trade rules and make sustained efforts to build a market-oriented, law-based and world-class business environment.  (Liu Lanxing)
