With an aim to promote the construction of a modern industry system with scientific and technological innovation, Qingdao is beefing up efforts to seek a presence in the perovskite solar cell industry to modernize the energy system and provide a growing number of new drivers for new productive forces.

Qingdao has been endowed with multiple first-mover advantages in the development of the perovskite solar cell industry. In collaboration with SPIC Central Research Institute, Qingdao is accelerating its efforts to make perovskite laminated cell preparation and develop small pilot production lines to occupy a commanding position in technology. Shandong Province’s first perovskite PV technology innovation centre was unveiled in Qingdao. At the beginning of 2024, findings of a research project participated by a team from Qingdao University of Science and Technology was published. The research findings can help improve dramatically the perovskite solar cell power conversion efficiency.

To help technologies to expand productive forces, Qingdao will make overall arrangements on both the innovation chain and the industry chain, set up perovskite cell general-purpose technology sharing platforms and facilitate tackling problems in key technologies to help the perovskite solar cell industry to draw more innovation elements.  (Geng Tingting)
