Qingdao is an important coastal railway hub city in China. By the end of last year, Qingdao was home to 13 railways including Qingdao-Rongcheng Intercity Raiway, Jinan-Qingdao High-speed Railway, Weifang-Laixi High-speed Railway, Laixi-Rongcheng High-speed Railway, and boasted a four-pronged railway passenger transport pattern, namely Qingdao Station, Qingdao North Station, Hongdao Station and Qingdao West Station, among which the first three stations serve as the mainstay and the last one plays a helping role, as well as an extensive road network linking up with the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region northward, the Yangtze River Delta southward, the Yellow River basin westward and the Yantai-Weihai Region eastward.
To date this year, Qingdao has moved faster to build a convenient railway transportation circle, both internally and externally, and therefore made progress in reaching out to other regions. The first passenger train from Qingdao to Dongying has opened, the frequency of high-speed trains in Hongdao Station and Qingdao Airport Station has been improved and increased, nearly 20 trains have departed from Hongdao Station for Beijing, Shanghai or Zhengzhou, passengers could take trains in Qingdao Airport Station to go to other cities in Shandong Province as well as cities in other provinces including Beijing, Shanghai, Zhengzhou, Taiyuan and Suzhou.
