Flocks of colorful wild blue-tailed bee-eaters recently gathered to nest on the banks of the Jinsha River in southwest China's Yunnan Province, reflecting the improving local ecological environment.
The blue-tailed bee-eater is classified as a wild animal under grade-II national protection, feeding on various of insects. Known as the "fairy of birds", this small bird has colorful feathers, shining with a metallic luster under the sunlight.
The migratory birds come to nest and breed on the sandy riverbanks of southwestern China in April, and will fly to Southeast Asia with their young when it gets cool in October.
The bright appearance of the bee-eater attracts birdwatchers from many places to set up tents and watch these delicate creatures.
The abundance of wild migratory birds is evidence of the improvement of the ecological environment in this area.
