A fascinating scene of a horde of macaques gathering for a delightful spring meal amidst a bamboo forest was recently captured by infrared cameras in the Jiulingshan National Nature Reserve in Jing'an County, east China's Jiangxi Province.
The footage captured the macaques traversing a bamboo forest, where they discovered a flourishing crop of spring bamboo shoots.
The monkeys, comprising both adults and youngsters, proceeded to settle down and indulge in the tasty treat. The adults expertly peeled and consumed the shoots, while the younger ones frolicked and reveled in the feast alongside them, creating a scene reminiscent of a happy family gathering.
In recent years, the Jiulingshan National Nature Reserve, which spans an area of 11,541 hectares, has become home to a diverse array of nationally protected rare animal species, further enriching the reserve's ecosystem.
This wealth of biodiversity has also provided invaluable data to support scientific research and conservation efforts in the region.
