The Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture in southwest China's Yunnan province has thrilled outdoor activity enthusiasts and tourists with distinctive landscapes during the summer vacations.
The prefecture is located in the core area of Three Parallel Rivers Natural Reserve, a UNESCO world heritage site. High mountains, deep valleys, long rivers and dense forests within the region have made it an ideal place for adventurers and tourists. A growing number of outdoor activity enthusiasts and tourists have flocked to this place since the summer holiday began.
Data from the local authority shows that the Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture received 1.51 million visitors from June to July, up by 8.33 percent year on year, with the total tourism consumption of 1.33 billion yuan (around 185.44 million U.S. dollars).
Characterized by jagged cracks, dense forests and hard rocks of all shapes, the prefecture is a terrific place for rock-climbers, as it enables everyone, whether beginners or professionals, to find the route suitable for climbing.
"Nujiang has much better resources for rock climbing than the coastal areas in the country have," said Liu Tuanxi, an adventure enthusiast.
More than rock-climbing, the prefecture also awes visitors with challenging experience, for instance, moving across the formidable Nujiang River with four steel cables.
With the help of local professionals, visitors could cross the river down steel cables from one side of the river to the other safely and smoothly while enjoying spectacular views.
"This is the first time for me to cross a river with steel cable. To my surprise, it was a steady travel. The views are pretty good," said a visitor.
In addition to climbers and tourists, the prefecture also attracts hikers across China.
Located in the Lanping county of the Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture, Luoguqing tourist reserve is a hot spot for hikers who want to challenge themselves.
"I really enjoy hiking at Luoguqing as it boasts diverse landscapes including mountains, grasslands, primary forests and colorful Danxia landform. To enjoy so many landscapes in one place, it's worth it! " said a hiker.
