A giant panda cub instantly won viewers' favor when it was captured to peek out slowly from a bamboo basket, at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding in southwest China's Sichuan Province.
The scene in the footage released on December 10 features the panda cub Danhonggao, or baked egg pancake, so was the little creature named after the popular street snack in Chengdu.
Danhonggao, male, has a twin brother named Reganmian, or hot dry noodle, the most popular noodle dish in Wuhan, the provincial capital of Hubei in central China.
They were born in the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding on March 17, 2020.
The Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding is a world-renowned institution for the conservation of giant pandas. The base is famous for its work in protecting and breeding giant pandas, red pandas and other endangered wild animal species unique to China as well as its educational outreach programs. It is now a major tourist attraction.
