Venture capital plays the role of a “talent scout” and “facilitator” in the burgeoning film industry.

Venture capital is a “frequenter” in the Qingdao Film and TV Expo. The Lingshan Bay Film and TV Venture Capital Conference, which was launched as soon as the Qingdao Film and TV Expo was founded in 2019. is dependent on Qingdao’s film and TV industry and emerges as an international brand of venture capital in Qingdao, providing a diversified communication platform for the new generation of film practitioners. Over the recent five years, the section of venture capital, part of the Qingdao Film and TV Expo, has become increasingly diversified in both content and form, thereby enriching the ecology of venture capital industry in Qingdao and even across China.

In the 2023 Qingdao Film and TV Week, the “Golden Key Venture Capital Project”, a well-known Chinese film and TV venture capital institution initiated by famous Chinese directors, gathered the directors, actors and actresses with the greatest market appeal, and the most professional investors and producers, aimed at helping young creators get their scripts done and shown.

In the film and TV week, the Qingdao Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism and the West Coast New Area briefed the Several Policies of Qingdao on Boosting High-quality Development of Film and TV Industry and the Several Policies of Qingdao West Coast New Area on Supporting Construction of High-standard Qingdao Film and TV Base respectively, and fulfilled the support policies by conferring cheques on outstanding film and TV companies. The sheer sincerity of the film city has enabled the film and TV industry to mushroom. The Qingdao film and TV base is home to more than 800 companies, where a number of films with high box office, such as The Wandering Earth, were shot.

Moreover, the 2023 Qingdao Film and TV Week specially launched the “Sea Surface” young filmmakers project and held a series of activities themed on “new concept screenwriting”, offering incubation platforms to young film professionals and injecting vigor to the film and TV industry for high-quality development.  (Li Deyin)
