Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport in south China's Guangdong Province is seeing a sustained twoway passenger surge this summer, fueled by visafree policies and strong outbound demand.

In July, border inspection authorities of the airport processed more than 1.65 million exit and entry passengers and over 10,000 inbound and outbound flights, up 13.8 percent and 17 percent year-on-year respectively.

Inbound passenger flow continued to climb, reaching 790,000 arrivals, with Russia, Malaysia and Australia emerging as the main source countries.

"The visa-free policy is pretty good for short holidays. Our travel plan is staying here [in Guangzhou], then go to Chongqing," said Abdulwahab Yusuf, a foreign traveler.

To handle the high flow of passengers, border inspection authorities have rolled out a series of service upgrades to ensure smooth clearance.
"For special passengers such as the elderly and children, we offer priority inspection and special assistance. At the same time, we've implemented a 'one-stop' process for issuing temporary entry permits and completing entry procedures and added more registration points for fast-channel clearance information collection," said Zeng Lingyun, an official of the airport's border inspection station.
