According to Qingdao Customs statistics, Qingdao’s imports and exports amounted to RMB366.22bln in the first five months of this year, up 8.4% year on year, representing 28.5% of Shandong Province’s total and ranking first in Shandong Province. To be specific, exports amounted to RMB201.53bln, up 3.6% while imports hit RMB164.69bln, up 14.9%.
Over the period, Qingdao’s imports and exports with the RCEP signatories, the countries and regions involved in the Belt and Road Initiative and the SCO member states amounted to RMB138.53bln, RMB133.75bln and RMB33.6bln, up 7.6%, 24.5% and 68.5% year on year, respectively. The ASEAN, the US and the EU are still the top three trade partners of Qingdao.
Qingdao’s exports of mechanical and electrical products in the first five months amounted to RMB97.82bln, up 9.4% year on year and making up 48.5% of the city’s total, increasing by 2.5 percentage points. Household appliances, auto parts and general-purpose mechanical equipment saw an increase of 10.3%, 6.3% and 28.9% year on year, respectively. (Liu Lanxing)
