The 2023 Qingdao Fencing Open Tournament kicked off in Guoxin Stadium. In the three-day-long contest, more than 2,400 fencing athletes from across China contended fiercely with each other in men’s and women’s individual and team races.
The 2023 Qingdao Fencing Open Tournament is said to be a grade B event certified by the Chinese fencing association as well as the only grade B public fencing contest in Shandong Province.
Among the earliest Chinese cities to develop fencing, Qingdao has fed a number of highly skilled athletes to the Shandong provincial team and the national team. Qingdao is home to more than ten clubs for youth fencing training, an increasing number of schools introduce fencing, tens of hundreds of adolescent students persist in fencing training all the year round.
